Margaret (Peg) Austin, CRNP has recently joined Riverside Medical, LLC. She came to us from private practice for geriatrics in long term and assisted living care. She has worked as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner for Inova Health System in Fairfax she was instrumental in developing an inpatient research program. She was Director of In-Patient Research and oversaw research for Cardiovascular, Vascular Surgery, Interventional areas. 

Her tenure at Lifebridge Health System she ran a very successful Heart Failure Program. In this program, Peg effectively decreased heart failure readmission rates. She was able to achieve improved numbers in a fledgling program.  Patients’ overall compliance areas of medication and management of their complex disease.

Peg has an extensive nursing career greater than 40 years. She has experience in long term care, rehabilitation and home health with durable medical. Her recent background in cardiology with a focus on heart failure and clinical research bring a cardiology specialty to our programs. Many diabetics suffer from heart related conditions and medications are dual use in diabetes and cardiac conditions. 

She completed her RN, BSN in 1983 from Widener University and her AG-ACNP from Georgetown University. Peg is Board Certified in three states.
